This Swine Life: Pig Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Mayor.

It might not have been at the equivalent scale as sparing festive fowl, but the county's top official had her own ceremonial pardon event this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She deserves this act of mercy. No offenses are on her docket,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with clear references to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued since the commencement of a new presidential term.

“Unless you count eating six or seven apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “Let this swine have a lengthy and joyful existence free from concern.”

The gathering, which both honors and questions the region’s Hispanic tradition of consuming swine during the holidays, was founded to mirror the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The swine, contributed by a first responder, was given its name from the current slang trend of young people shouting “6-7” – inspired by a musical verse – often seemingly at random. The craze became so pervasive that a major dictionary recently declared “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A New Life

The pardoned swine is now destined to live out its days at a countryside refuge “away from grills and cookware”, according to the event’s official press release.

“The annual pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to begin the festive period,” said the event host, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It represents the essence of Miami: joyful, multicultural, and rooted in traditions that foster togetherness. Each year, we are honored to observe tradition and kindness in a way only Miami can.”

Guests enjoyed a plant-based fare of croquettes and cafecito as they celebrated Six Seven’s big moment.
