The original creators of the famous frozen dessert company Ben and Jerry's has announced how parent company the multinational conglomerate stopped the launch for a new Palestine-themed ice cream flavor.

Ben Cohen, who co-founded the company with his partner, announced how he plans to personally create this new product as part of a personal collection highlighting issues the company has been prevented from addressing publicly.

Longstanding Conflict Involving Creators and Parent Company

The recent announcement escalates the continuing conflict between the world-famous dessert company with its corporate parent, the UK-based consumer goods corporation which has owned the ice cream brand for over two decades.

The co-founders maintain how Unilever along with its ice cream arm the Magnum brand unlawfully blocked their company against "honouring its social mission".

The Fruit Sorbet becoming a Symbol for Support

Mr. Cohen announced through social media that he's developing a new watermelon-flavored frozen dessert, requesting public suggestions for the product's name plus potential ingredients.

“I'm accomplishing what they were prevented from doing,” the founder declared from a cooking set. “I'm creating a watermelon-based ice cream that advocates for lasting ceasefire in Palestine and calls for repairing the damage that occurred in the region.”

This particular fruit has become an emblem of support for Palestinians because of its coloration, which mirror those of the Palestinian flag – the distinctive four-color pattern.

Historical Activism and Recent Changes

In 2021, the ice cream company refused to sell their merchandise in territories occupied by Israel, resulting in Unilever selling the Israeli operation over to a local licensee, thereby permitting continued sales within the occupied West Bank.

This upcoming product line will be developed under Ben's Best, the socially conscious dessert company which was first created several years back for endorsing ex- US presidential candidate Senator Sanders with the product "Bernie's Return".

Leadership Shifts and Upcoming Intentions

The founder revealed how he will develop other ice cream flavors focusing on issues that the company was silenced from addressing publicly by corporate restrictions.

The announcement comes after co-founder Jerry Greenfield resigned from the company recently, after decades of involvement, citing worries regarding how its independence was undermined following Unilever's decision to restrict their advocacy work.

Previously, Mr. Cohen stated how “My partner has strong compassion and this conflict with Unilever was breaking it."

"My heart compels me to continue to work inside the company to fight for its independence ensuring that it can achieve its ethical purpose, the values that it was founded on while upholding for over 40 years," he told journalists.
