Supporters Demand Detainment of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande
Passionate followers of the pop star are calling for that a individual who jumped a fence and seized the performer during Thursday's Wicked: For Good debut be detained or removed from Singapore.
A viral clip depicts the Australian man shoving aside photographers and charging at Grande while the cast proceeded down a yellow carpet accompanied by fans.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the surprised actress away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being led away of the premiere by security officers.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "free after being arrested", though court documents showed that he was due to be present on the next day. It is not clear if he was charged.
Pattern of Incidents
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Controversial Figure", has invaded a performance. His Instagram profile contains videos of him disrupting other star-studded functions, including rushing the platform at the pop singer's Sydney show in recently and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers concert in the same location last winter.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is obviously a punishable act," wrote an Instagram commenter, in a message to a video Mr Wen posted of his act.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" one Instagram user remarked.
Followers Show Disapproval Over the Star's Safety
Several fans accused Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had discussed dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the end of her spring 2017 concert in Manchester, killing 22 people and injuring hundreds.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented another message on Instagram.
A number of supporters also questioned security officers at the premiere for not being adequately prepared; while different individuals requested digital services to ban Mr Wen's videos.
Aftermath and Event Details
In videos spreading on the internet, Grande looked surprised when she was grabbed by the intruder. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen consoling her while Mr Wen was removed by security.
Grande has not commented on the event, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Many of fans had congregated in a mass of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good international premiere in a Singapore venue, including several who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it started.
The movie, to be premiered on November 21, is the second of a dual interpretation of the well-known stage show Wicked, which focuses on the unexpected friendship between two contrasting sorceresses.
The production itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was decked out in a light pink sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the Elphaba, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.
They were joined by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing motion picture of 2024 in the UK, and earned a dozen Academy Award nods, earning two for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
