Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's understandable for questions to be raised about his position following a further convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in twelve games, representing the team's poorest run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received plenty of support from the top,” Slot stated.

“It would be great to turn it around and earn three points of course but when you're coaching a team and not doing well then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I accept my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “In the normal exchanges I perceive the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this match yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Issues and Player Reaction

Slot lamented familiar shortcomings from his squad in their European loss, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a spell of this nature with results this poor.”

He concluded, “However we still have the emblem on our chest. And as long as that badge is removed, we’re always going to fight.”

“We will attempt to get this team return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”

“At this moment, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
