Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at each of the last five grands prix.
Lando Norris narrowly beat team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the title advantage from his teammate by a single point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Until that point, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before sprint qualifying due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the championship fight, lying 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th position as his Red Bull team followed a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he rotated at the fourth corner early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the exit kerbs before spinning across the run-off area, and was fortunate to get away with just a slight brush of the wall.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the final moments of the practice, turning around through the fast downhill corner leading to the last turn on to the pit straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in P19, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, 0.619 seconds slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
