Iran Reports Assault on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any impact is not yet known and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a number of missiles," it added.
Officials reported missile fragments landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
