NFL 2025 season: Week six

Real-time updates features live text for Sunday's games on multiple platforms, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Additionally, audio coverage is available through designated networks covering another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).

It's week six of the NFL season , after last week's discussion regarding two top teams being a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both lost their perfect starts.

Striking during those contests was the number of infractions each committed. Philadelphia did so in key moments so they kind of defeated themselves having led by two touchdowns going into the fourth period versus the Denver Broncos, set to play in London this weekend.

However it was good to observe that Denver's QB Bo Nix managed to overcome that deficit and then lead three scoring drives on three possessions during the final period, to win the game by four points.

The Broncos have the top defender with CB Pat Surtain II. They are number one in red zone defence, whereas the Eagles lead the league in scoring near the end zone, yet Denver prevailed in that battle.

They executed effective strategies regarding disguised blitzes. They did not always rushing extra pass rushers instead they might position two linebackers in the 'A' gap before withdrawing them and send a nickel off the edge.

At the start of the season, it was noted during a show how the Broncos could be the current year's surprise contenders. They ended last season well and excelled in continuing that momentum.

Are the Denver Broncos this season's underdog story?

New tight end their tight end has stepped up big while recent running back JK Dobbins is a player they believe in. He's currently fifth league-wide in ground gains (over 400) and tied-fourth in rushing scores (4).

It's impressive how the coach the Broncos' leader has "RUSH!" prominently on his call sheet.

This demonstrates that Denver are a squad aiming to run first, because you can do a lot off the back of that. It slows down the pass rush while maintains in favourable down and distances.

It's also benefited quarterback Bo Nix, who came the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick last year, passing for 29 TDs – just behind Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert possess the arm strength to pass anywhere, however they don't move the mobility that Nix has. He boasts incredible passing ability, which is different, and he is highly agile.

His assets include his movement, being able to throw while moving, and using varied release points to make throws as he moves out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He is able to throw that layered pass over the middle or over the corner.

As a rookie QB, at 25, he displays great composure under pressure and is not really fazed by the blitz. He tries to avoid a sack as much as possible and is able throw under pressure. He possesses sharp intelligence and is very decisive.

When you consistently rush it consumes time and makes the defence to stay in play for longer, and if you've got an athletic quarterback the defense must defend the field vertically and horizontally. This proves draining.

Nix has pushed back with the coach during games sometimes and I think the coach appreciates that fire, that he's a fierce rival. In my view it's exciting for him to coach a young quarterback who's similar to play-dough. He can truly build something up how he wants to shape him. I think it's a special experience for him.

Payton has won a Super Bowl and now surpassed a legend for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He's seen everything. I think the success Denver are experiencing offensively is largely due to his guidance, his schemes, his game sense – and the pairing with Nix helps make him into who he is.

There's no better a better guy in your ear, to help you through difficult moments and build self-belief.

I believe in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet are they strong enough to go against an elite team at full strength? Since that was not a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles in their last game.

Right now, it's unlikely the Broncos are elite. They're working above average, which is a solid position to be in the AFC West. The key is to continue this trajectory.

They excel at leaning into their strength, that is the ground game, and this is exactly what they should do versus the Jets in London. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.

New York have allowed 140 yards on the ground each contest (sixth worst), five ground scores this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the sole squad yet to win a game.

Ever since the league began tracking turnovers decades ago, the Jets are also the first team to go without any turnovers through five games, which is surprising when you think that their new coach Aaron Glenn a defensive coach with another team.

Patrick Mahomes stated Kansas City are off to a poor start after a recent loss to Jacksonville.

Following the upcoming matchup, the Broncos face a manageable slate up to their break (in week twelve) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, the Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Chiefs.

Looking at their division, Kansas City hold a losing record and the Broncos are even with the Chargers on 3-2 so they could challenge for the top of the division.

It depends on what version of the Chiefs they meet because the Broncos {beat|def
