A two-month journey around Australia is being halted in the wake of the fatal incident of an senior lady who was abandoned by the vessel on a remote tropical isle.

Suzanne Rees had been trekking on Lizard Island with fellow passengers from the cruise ship, but separated from the party for a rest. The vessel sailed away leaving her and returned after some time after the ship staff discovered the passenger was not present.

An extensive search operation found her person the subsequent day.

Investigative bodies are examining the event, together with investigators and the official investigator.

He mentioned that the company was "extremely apologetic that this has happened" and had extended its full support to the family.

The vessel caters for up to a hundred twenty guests with nearly fifty personnel, according to official information. It was specially constructed to reach isolated regions of the Australian coastline and is fitted with "tenders" - compact vessels used to transport travelers on shore trips.
