Canada's Blue Jays Earn World Series Meeting With defending champion Dodgers
George Springer contributed to the Houston Astros claiming the World Series in 2017.
Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their first World Series after the 1993 season by beating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive game seven of the ALCS.
Trailing 3-1, the star outfielder smashed a three-run blast in the seventh frame, leading the Toronto squad in MLB to a four games to three victory in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the current crown, in the forthcoming World Series.
"I'm thrilled for this squad, Toronto, Canada," commented Springer, a key player of the Astros team that won the 2017 World Series. "What an unbelievable moment."
Springer has now slugged 23 October home runs, ranking him third on the list after Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).
"There's probably not another player anywhere that I'd prefer in that situation other than George Springer with his playoff prowess," said Schneider.
Seattle, who had led the series two games to none and three games to two, continue to be the one club never to appear in a Fall Classic.
Wilson said "there's no question that it hurts" following his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but praised their efforts throughout the year.
"They're an exceptional squad. Sadly that we finished on the losing end of this one," he remarked.
Toronto's team claimed the World Series on their two prior appearances in 1992 and 1993, and will welcome the Los Angeles in the opener on this Friday.
