The UK is set to progress with utilizing the total value of frozen Russian holdings to aid the Ukrainian defense operations, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a joint statement, the heads of state of the United Kingdom, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany emphasized that this joint measure would heighten pressure on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and urge Moscow to engage in negotiations.

They clarified that the decision would be implemented in tight collaboration with the America.

British restrictions have blocked in excess of £25bn of Russian resources since Moscow initiated its comprehensive attack against Ukraine in 2022. Yet, up to this point, funds allocated to Ukraine using Russian funds had only been sourced from profits and interest earned on them.

Sir Keir told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany were aligned in their goal to push forward toward using the total worth of the frozen Moscow's national holdings to conclude the conflict.

He noted that additional measures soon would apply more pressure on Moscow.

This announcement comes after EU officials convened in the Danish capital recently to discuss utilizing seized Russia's assets for a €140bn financial aid to Ukraine.

Last month, President Donald Trump urged Group of Seven partners to take or employ seized Russia's funds, as reported by reports.

The total of seized Russia's funds in the European Union is estimated to be nearly €211bn.

Moscow carried out large-scale missile and drone strikes throughout Ukraine on Friday, causing power cuts in large parts of the capital city, the city, and several other zones.

In a post on social media subsequent to the strike, Zelensky wrote that the strategic strike targeted civilian and energy infrastructure.
