In a bizarre collaboration that defies traditional predictions, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering free bonus story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Mission Revealed

According to the official release, "An unusual confrontation draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where hints of forbidden practices and fearsome transformations reverberate through the darkness." The narrative presents a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a secret cult.

The adventure focuses on "bizarre experiments and a terrifying enemy" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Locations and Metamorphoses

The trailer features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview ends with a powerful moment showing a character, likely the hostage, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Items and Extra Material

Players who finish the quest will obtain an unique katana together with several items secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Exclusive weapons
• Survey Corps steed

Newest Free Story Update

This release also introduces the game's third no-cost story addition, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature skills: Naoe debuts a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

Previous Japanese Animation Crossovers

This marks not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime franchises. The series formerly included a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially contained a quest that obviously referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
